Khalsa Credit Union is recruiting a Senior Manager Finance and Technology to assist the CEO in strategic planning and to manage and direct the overall financial planning and performance activities of the credit union.
It will be your responsibility to
·         Participate as a member of the senior management team in the strategic planning process for the credit union; identify short and long-term goals and objectives; contribute to the design and development of policies and programs to meet those goals; provide technical advice and consultative support in areas relating to financial performance management. SMFT will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the Credit Union
·         Direct the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and reports for review by senior management, Board of Directors, and regulatory agencies
·         Develop, implement, and monitor treasury strategies and policies including liquidity investment and lending, asset liability management, derivatives, and foreign exchange
·         Provide the credit union with direction and leadership in technology based solutions and strategies; identifies technology based solutions which can provide for alternative delivery, competitive advantage and which support the business strategy.
You bring with you three or more years of experience with oversight of a financial institution or a major area of a financial institution. You have professional accounting designation CPA. You have strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization

Basic Purpose:
Under executive direction, leads, manages and directs the ongoing operation of the credit union networks, systems and end user applications to ensure continuing user availability and system stability and efficiency; oversees and maintains security of the credit union network; oversees the provision of IT support to credit union staff through the Network and IT Administrator; manages, plans and directs the design, development and implementation of new or upgraded information technology systems and networks such as ATMs, self-service terminals, electronic banking and web-based applications; leads project teams in implementing new and upgraded information technology; leads assigned IT staff

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads, manages and directs the ongoing operation of the credit union networks, systems and end user applications to ensure continuing user availability and system stability and efficiency by ensuring the effective provision of systems maintenance, documentation, report production, end user support and hardware/software troubleshooting services through the Network and IT Administrator; retains accountability for meeting recovery time standards to minimize impact on credit union members and staff.
  • Oversees and maintains security of the credit union network by ensuring compliance with enterprise-wide security policies, procedures and standards; identifies areas of vulnerability and develops new standards, policies and procedures where required to improve network and systems security; monitors status of enterprise virus protection, anti-spyware and related applications, and monitors servers to ensure workstation health; identifies and acts on unauthorized access and/or system use by internal staff or external parties.
  • Oversees all in-house and externally purchased vendor software packages to ensure licensing requirements are current and user access is compliant with licensing terms and conditions; reviews user feedback on software use and efficiency, and negotiates with vendors where necessary to obtain upgrades and enhancements.
  • Manages the operation of the organization’s intranet site by ensuring intranet design is efficient and meeting user needs; regularly converts and uploads content to the site in consultation with the Manager, Human Resources
  • Maintains an inventory of all technology hardware and office equipment.
  • Manages, plans and directs the design, development and implementation of new or upgraded information                       technology systems and networks such as ATMs, self-service terminals, electronic banking and web-based applications by:
o   identifying user needs, analyzing current and future growth and assessing the application of technology to meet predicted needs;
o   evaluating new software products, systems, networks and hardware
  • conducting cost/benefit analyses, developing business cases to support new projects and initiatives in line with the credit union’s business objectives and presenting to the CEO and the Board where applicable for review and approval;
  • maintaining liaison with system vendors, independent contractors and consultants; negotiates purchase price, leasing and service agreements;
  • evaluating existing equipment to identify the need for upgrading or replacement and making related budget recommendations on an annual basis.
  • Leads the implementation of new information technology systems or applications and the upgrading and enhancement of existing technology by:
  • planning project objectives, deliverables, milestones and desired outcomes including impact on staffing, productivity and work design; ensures compatibility and seamless integration of new systems with existing technology;
  • monitoring the execution of project stages, actively participating in project work activities and identifying challenges associated with implementing technology solutions;
  • coordinating the work of independent contractors involved in the physical installation of wiring, cabling and other construction and renovation activities;
  • evaluating project outcomes and reporting on results;
  • participating on integration teams during mergers, acquisitions and conversions and representing the credit union’s interests in all areas affecting existing technology.
  • Conducts a variety of special projects under the direction of Senior Manager Finance and Technology.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge in the field of information management technology through regular review of professional literature, establishing and using a network of contacts and associates, and attending conferences, workshops and other educational offerings.
Minimum qualifications for entry level:
§  Successful completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma in Computer Systems Technology
§  A minimum of seven to eight years of experience working in a network and/or systems administration environment, preferably within a financial institution
§  Advanced knowledge of operating systems software troubleshooting procedures
§  Advanced knowledge of project planning and project management techniques, and demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget
§  Working knowledge of enterprise software including office automation products
§  Working knowledge of credit union administrative processes
§  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management teams and end users
§  Demonstrated ability to adapt to a continually changing work environment and to effectively balance and prioritize multiple and conflicting priorities through the use of time management tools and techniques.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities at the 100% operational level:
Knowledge of the credit union's mission statement and credit union philosophy
Knowledge of credit union operations, policies and procedures
Knowledge of security and risk management standards, policies and procedures as they relate to KCU’s IT systems
Knowledge of systems maintenance procedures specific to KCU’s networks, systems and applications
Knowledge of supervisory and human resource management principles and practices, including recruitment, training and performance management
Knowledge of IT vendors, contractors and service providers within the local area
Knowledge of networks, enterprise and end user applications within KCU’s environment
Knowledge of budget and planning techniques and processes
Ability to manage and lead others, to provide coaching and to motivate teamwork and enthusiasm
Ability to communicate effectively with team members, colleagues and Seniors, both orally and in writing
